Respuesta al ejercicio 75
Tenemos la ecuación de una curva dada en coordenadas polares.
El área del sector limitado por la misma y los radios vectores
de argumentos \(\theta_1 \quad y\quad \theta_2\) se halla en general
de la siguiente forma
\( \displaystyle \begin{array}{l}
dA = \frac{1}{2}\rho (\rho + d\rho)\sin (d\theta) = \\
\\
= \frac{1}{2}(\rho^2 + \rho d\rho)d\theta = \frac{1}{2}\rho^2
d\theta + \frac{1}{2}\rho d\rho d\theta
\end{array} \)
Y despreciando el infinitésimo de segundo orden, nos queda
\( \displaystyle dA = \frac{1}{2}\rho^2 d\theta \Rightarrow
A =\int_{\theta_1}^{\theta_2}\frac{1}{2}\rho^2 d\theta \)
En el esquema adjunto representamos la figura de la que hay que
determinar el área:
Por lo tanto el área total será 8 veces la rayada.
Tenemos
\( \displaystyle \begin{array}{l}
A =8 \int_{0}^{\pi/4}\frac{1}{2}\rho^2 d\theta = 4a^2 \int_{0}^{\pi/4}
\cos^2 2\theta d\theta = \\
\\
= 4a^2 \frac{1}{2}\; \frac{1}{2}\left[2 \theta + \frac{1}{2}\sin
4\theta\right]_{0}^{\pi/4} = 4a^2 \frac{1}{4}\; 2 \frac{\pi}{4}
= \frac{\pi a^2}{2}
\end{array} \)
